The Carlton is a three-piece double-edge safety razor, machined in aluminium and Zamak. It weighs 60 g, the handle is 100 mm, and the head holds a single blade at a fixed thirty degrees with minimal exposure.
That fixed angle is the whole point. A multi-blade cartridge lifts the hair out of the follicle and cuts it while it is stretched, so the cut end retracts below the surface of your skin and grows back into the follicle wall. One blade, held still, cuts the hair where it stands.
It takes any standard double-edge blade. That standard has been open since 1904, which is why a blade costs around 5p instead of the £1.41 to £2.62 a cartridge costs at UK retail. There is no proprietary refill and no subscription: you buy blades wherever you like, whenever you like.
The first three shaves will feel different, and you may take a nick. It is pressure, not the blade. Let the weight of the razor do the work and by the fourth shave you will stop thinking about it.

Using it
Loading a blade. Unscrew the handle, lift the top cap off, lay a fresh double-edge blade flat on the base plate, seat the cap over it and thread the handle back on until it seats. Three pieces, about ten seconds.
The stroke. Rest the head on your skin and let it find its own angle. Do not press. The weight of the razor is the pressure. Use short strokes, rinse often, and go with the grain first.
The first three shaves. They will feel different, and you may take a nick. It is almost always pressure, out of twenty years of cartridge habit. By the fourth shave your hand knows the angle.
Afterwards. Rinse the three parts, shake off the water and stand it up to dry. A blade lasts most men about a week.

Delivery and returns
Delivery. Free UK delivery, tracked. Orders placed before the daily cut-off are dispatched the next working day.
Age verification. Razor blades are age-restricted in the UK under the Offensive Weapons Act 2019. Your age is verified at the door by the courier, the parcel is handed to someone aged 18 or over, and it cannot be left in a locker, a parcel shop or a safe place.
Returns. You have the statutory right to cancel within 14 days of delivery. For hygiene reasons, opened blade packs cannot be returned. The razor itself can be sent back in its original condition.
