Every line above is an engineering decision rather than a marketing one. The head sets the angle so your wrist does not have to. The weight does the work, so there is never a reason to press. And the blade is an open standard that nobody owns, which is the whole reason it costs pennies.
How to use it
There is no technique to learn. The head decides the angle, you only decide where to start.

Rest the head on wet, lathered skin with the handle lying roughly parallel to your face. In this position the blade is not touching anything yet. It lets you place the razor calmly instead of aiming it.

Tip the razor forward a little. At one point the blade meets the hair and begins to cut. That point is the angle, and the head holds it there for you. Draw a short stroke downward with no pressure at all, then rinse.
Unscrew the handle, lift the cap, lay a fresh blade flat on the base plate, seat the cap and thread the handle back on. Three pieces, about ten seconds. Hold the blade by its long flat sides.
They feel different, and you may take a nick. It is almost always pressure, a habit built by twenty years of cartridges that needed pushing. Go with the grain first, keep the strokes short, and let the weight of the razor fall through the hair.

It's engineered not to move
Multi-blade razors flex, spring and pivot. That movement lets the blade drift off its angle mid-stroke, so it catches instead of cuts. Carlton holds the blade dead still, so it can't dig in.
Carlton sets the ideal blade angle.
Every blade has a sweet spot, the one angle where it cuts clean instead of dragging. Drift off it, and it tugs, nicks and irritates.
Carlton fixes the blade at 30°, that sweet spot, every stroke. A close, effortless shave, even on your very first go.
Shaving twice a week. Carlton vs a big-brand razor.
Over €330 wasted in just 2 years.
Carlton lasts a lifetime.
Twice-weekly shaving. Big brand: ~€3.75/cartridge + handle. Carlton: €69.90 one-off, first 100 blades free.
